The Best Investment Advice I Have Ever Given
When it comes to investing everyone starts at the same place. $1. Without the first dollar invested compound interest is only a theory. Most people begin investing when it does not make good financial sense. Typically in the form of a 401k or some other type of qualified retirement plan and usually this is shortly after obtaining their first job in the “real world”. The point in time when adult responsibilities are piling up faster than you can spell R-E-T-I-R-E-M-E_N-T. However, as those that prolong this decision eventually find out, there is no good time to start investing because those responsibilities only increase as the days, weeks, months, years and decades pass.
In reality, the best time to start investing is now – regardless of your responsibilities. However, the investment is not with the first dollar but with prayer. Unlike the stock market, when we don’t invest in prayer we can still lose. And the price is more than losing every invested dollar ever put into every retirement plan in the world.
Praying is not nearly as complicated as investing in the stock market. The words do not matter, but the heart does. If you do not know how to pray don’t worry about it. God will listen intently anyway. He isn’t worried about how elegant you are. He simply wants a relationship with you. But as with any relationship, you only get out of it what you are willing to put in.
God promises to give us a future and hope. So do not wait to start investing in your future. Start now by lifting a prayer to God. And once you start, do not stop. Just as investing in the stock market, it may take a while to see the returns, but they are worth it. I promise the return is more profitable than any other investment.
